Italian Conchiglie with whole wheat teff from Holland
We make these conchiglie from Dutch white whole wheat teff and corn flour. No eggs are used in making this pasta and therefore perfect for vegans.
Conchiglie is the Italian word for "little shells" and because everyone stumbles over them: you pronounce it "konkielie-jee". Those little shells run nicely full of sauce.
This pasta is made from ingredients without gluten or other allergens. Both the corn flour and the teff flour are GMO-free. This conchiglie is therefore a tasty and healthy alternative to whole wheat or spelt pasta.
The secret of teff? Resistant starch !
Starch falls into the category of "carbohydrates. We immediately think of potatoes or grains.
However, this is slightly different with teff. After all, this grain of African origin contains large amounts of "resistant starch." An indigestible carbohydrate it is. A type of starch that behaves like dietary fiber.
For a healthy colon
Resistant starch causes good bacteria in our colon to ferment the dietary fiber in teff. Sugars are fermented away and therefore not absorbed. So hardly any sugar left in your intestines, but other substances that nourish our intestines and promote bowel movement.
