Za'atar is a traditional spice blend from the Middle East. Each family has its own family recipe. That recipe happens to be is so secret that some mothers didn't even tell their daughters about it.
We have chosen for the pure and basic Za'atar with sumak, sesame, thyme and salt. Have fun creating your own family version by adding coriander seeds, cumin, pepper, anise or lemon peel.
Use
Traditionally, za'atar is used by dipping Arabic bread (pita) in olive oil and then in Za'atar. Use it as a general dipper with some olive oil or sprinkle Za'atar on chicken, fish and vegetables.
