Natural shelled tiger nuts or chufas
Tiger nuts or chufas are the root nodules of the ancient grass species tubercyperus. Therefore, they are not real nuts. Tiger nuts have a sweet, nutty flavor reminiscent of almonds.
Our tiger nuts are dried and shelled, and therefore they are immediately edible. They are raw and naturally gluten-free. We do not add any additional flavorings or other additives. Natural tiger nuts are not as crunchy as other nuts. You might therefore roast them briefly in the fry pan.
Use of tiger nuts
Eat tiger nuts pure or mixed with other nuts. They are also delicious in muesli, granola, yogurt and salads. You can soak them in water for a little while for a softer bite. Or roast them in the pan for more crunch.
Tiger nuts are also used in carp fishing or as animal feed.
