100% Ethiopian Arabica coffee beans with floral bouquet
Our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe peaberry coffee beans are 100% whole arabica beans with a powerful, full-bodied taste. This coffee combines a floral bouquet with a rich body, pleasantly fragrant aroma and a unique smoothness.
Single origin coffee beans from Southern Ethiopia
These single origin coffee beans come from the Yirgacheffe district in the Sidamo region in southern Ethiopia. There the coffee plants grow in ideal conditions. At an altitude of 1800 to 2200 meters, in a tropical climate with moderate rainfall and plenty of sunshine.
Exclusive coffee beans from rare peaberries
Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans are the seeds of peaberries or gooseberries. The gooseberry is a natural mutation of the coffee berry that occurs in about 5% of the coffee crop. It takes careful manual selection to separate the peaberries from the rest of the harvest. This labour-intensive process and the rarity of the berries make Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans a true exclusivity.
Wine-like acidity due to wet method
The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans are cleaned by the wet method. First the outer layers and the fruit pulp are removed from the coffee berry. The beans are then fermented for up to 72 hours. The wet method gives the coffee beans a higher acidity, a floral undertone of wine and a powerful aroma.
Medium roast for balanced flavour
Medium roasting gives the coffee beans a balanced flavor and beautiful mid-brown color. Medium-roasted coffee beans have an ideal taste balance: not too sour, but not bitter either.
At Pit&Pit, health always comes first, also with coffee.
When processing many coffees, a lot of acrylamides are formed due to excessive roasting. This is a substance which can be formed when starchy products are burned. Acrylamides are extremely unhealthy and harmful. Even the lover of strong coffee doesn't want this. We therefore categorically exclude the very strongest roasts with a high risk of acrylamides.
By allowing the fresh and very high-quality coffee beans to be roasted at a lower temperature and for somewhat longer, the delicious flavours and aromas come into their own. The slower, moderate roasting method ensures a healthy, high-quality coffee and allows our coffee roaster to perform tight acrylamide monitoring at each roast.
