Shea butter or shea butter is made from the nuts of the shea tree, found only in the West African savannah, nowhere else in the world. It is an ivory-colored oil with a typical nutty, slightly smoky scent. Our shea butter is completely unrefined and free of additives.

    Traditional production of shea butter

Our shea butter is produced traditionally:

    • The nuts for our shea butter are picked in the wild.

    • The nuts are boiled and the kernels are removed.

    • After naturally drying them in the sun, the kernels are hand sorted for quality.

    • The kernels are finely ground, roasted and whipped with hot water to a smooth light brown mass.

    • Pouring cold water on the mass causes the shea butter to float on the surface.

    • As a final step, the shea butter is boiled and filtered. The butter hardens upon cooling.

With deep respect and fair prices for the strong women in Ghana

The production of shea butter is thus very labor intensive, and the product is made entirely artisanally. Our shea butter and the products made with it come exclusively from a cooperative women's organization in northern Ghana. They are strong and enterprising women. They create a 100% natural top product and deserve a fair price for it.
