  • How is vinegar made?

Vinegar is essentially a combination of acetic acid and water. Together, they go through a two-step fermentation process.

Everything starts with a yeast culture and liquid sugars or starches from plant foods: for example, from fruits (think grapes, apples, citrus...), whole grains, potatoes, rice and so on. In principle, you can make vinegar from almost any plant product, including black tea leaves.

    Twice fermenting

The whole of the liquid used ferments into alcohol in the first step.

In a second step, the alcohol is exposed to oxygen and acetic acid bacteria to ferment one more time and become vinegar. The alcohol - and usually all the sugars - are gone and the acetic acid content in the liquid will rise to a level 4% to 8%. Then it is vinegar!

Depending on the source (such as apples for apple vinegar, grapes for wine vinegar,...), vinegars also contain vitamins, mineral salts, amino acids and polyphenolic compounds.

Opt for this unique, healthy variety: delicious Pit&Pit kombucha vinegar!

Kombucha vinegar, which is as logical as it is delicious!

To make our kombucha vinegar, we use black tea as a base, organically grown sugar and kombucha. Logical, because black tea is already a fermented product in itself. And kombucha is already a naturally fermented beverage based on kombucha enzyme cultures. We just need the right yeast culture to start up first fermentation, and the alcohol sugars are fully converted in the second fermentation. The result is an extremely refined kombucha vinegar that is extremely smooth and does not have the overwhelming acidic impact of other vinegars.

100% natural kombucha vinegar, from organic organic farming

This pure kombucha vinegar is from certified organic farming, meaning without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers while growing the ingredients, but with respect for the environment. Kombucha vinegar contains no GMOs, no preservatives, no dyes or flavor additives. It is a 100% natural product with no additives.

    Probiotic kombucha vinegar

Kombucha naturally contains quite a bit of vitamin C and, above all, it is a strong probiotic. In short, a great ally for the immune system.

That's why pure kombucha by itself is the very best, sugar-free alternative to soda or industrial ice teas. However, the probiotics in our kombucha vinegar are largely preserved because they cultivate precisely in an acidic liquid anyway.

Ideal for making a great vinegar. And definitely a healthy choice.
