Agave syrup barely causes blood sugar levels to rise. It contains 25% less calories than sugar. Yet, its sweet taste is 25% stronger than sugar. No wonder agave syrup is popular as a healthy substitute for regular sugar! Agave syrup is also easy to use. It easily dissolves in hot and cold beverages and adds a lovely sweet taste to baking goods.

    From the wild

Our organic agave syrup originates in the Mexican highlands surrounding the city of Jalisco. Here, wild agaves thrive in their natural environment: dry, desert-like soils under a clear blue sky. It is a harsh environment and the climate is unforgiving. Few plants survive here, except of course the strong and well-adapted agave.

    Dark syrup

Our agave syrup has a dark colour. This natural colour is the result of a slow production process that works with low temperatures. This way, all nutrients are optimally preserved.

From the Aztecs to the Spanish

In ancient Mexico, agave was a holy plant. The Aztecs ate it as a vegetable and used it to make literally anything: from clothing to paper, rope, mats and even needles. Later, Spanish conquistadors and Mexicans invented two well-known drinks based in agave: tequila and pulque.

    Use

Agave syrup replaces sugar and honey. It dissolves easily in water, yoghurt or drinks. It can easily be mixed into warm and cold dishes. You can also use the syrup for baking.
