What is erythritol?
Erythritol naturally occurs in some fruits, mushrooms and cheeses. The sweetener is obtained through a natural fermentation process. We do not refine this sweetener, nor do we add any additives.
Fine sugar with mild-sweet taste
Erythritol has a mild-sweet taste and fine texture. The sweetening power of erythritol is 60-70%. Therefore, we recommend to use 1,5 part erythritol to substitute 1 part of regular sugar.
Erythritol or granulated sugar?
Erythritol has a similar taste and texture to regular granulated sugar. Compared to granulated sugar, erythritol is whole lot healthier. Erythritol consist of glucose. It has a glycemic index (GI) of 0. Granulated sugar has a GI of 70. Erythritol barely contains any calories (20kcal/100g).
Usage
Erythritol easily dissolves in liquids. You can use it in drinks or to bake cheese cakes. When making crumble or filo dough, choose powdered erythritol instead.
