  • Popular Asian Mushroom
  • Pronounced umami taste
  • Dried shiitake full of flavour

Shiitake mushrooms are one of the most popular mushroom species in Asia. This mushroom grows on the shiitake tree and has a meaty consistency and a spicy savory flavor. You can recognize the shiitake by its umami taste.

    Dried with care

Our mushrooms are air-dried in special drying cabinets. This method preserves the flavour, colour and fragrance (but also the texture) very well. As a result, you need relatively little to get a lot of flavour.

    Using dried shiitake

Soak the shiitake in hot water for 10 minutes. Drain them in a sieve. Use the mushrooms just like fresh mushrooms.

Shiitake are delicious in omelets, soups, (pasta) sauces, risotto, vegetable pies and stews. Use them in Asian dishes and broths for a pronounced umami flavour.

To give dishes an extra kick you can also grind the dried shiitake into a fine powder and sprinkle it over cold and hot dishes just before serving.

    Ingredients

100% natural shiitake without any additives, from certified organic cultivation.
