    Organic matcha tea from the Japanese mountains

    This tea comes from the Aichi district which continues an age-old tradition of powdered matcha tea. The mountainous region of Nishio in particular offers the perfect conditions for excellent and complex green tea.

    The tea leaves have been cultivated there for centuries without the use of artificial fertilizers or sprays, and the tea is therefore certified organic.

    Premium matcha tea

    Japan has a complicated grade system for matcha tea based on the region, texture, taste, leaf quality, east period, etc. The two main matcha tea qualities are ceremonial quality on the one hand and what could be translated as "culinary" quality on the other hand.

    This second group is then further divided into 5 grades ranging from "premium", "superfood", "ingredient", "cuisine" and "classic". Premium Matcha tea is the highest quality tea after the ceremonial quality. Premium Quality leaves are from first harvested, very fine and picked between the end of April and the end of May. The ceremonial and premium matchas also have in common that both are only ground on stone mills.

    Making Green Japanese Matcha Premium Powder Tea

    To prepare this powdered tea according to Japanese tradition, place one bamboo teaspoon of matcha powder in a bowl. Add boiled water at about 80°C and froth with a matcha whisk.
