  • Single origin coffee from the famous Galapagos Islands, 80% intensity

This single origin coffee is grown and processed on the El Cafetal estate, on the island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands. A rich volcanic soil, humid climate and pure spring water from the mountains provide the ideal growing conditions for hard, concentrated coffee beans.

100% whole arabica beans with a lush, sweet taste.

These Galapagos San Cristobal coffee beans are 100% whole arabica beans with a lush, sweet taste. These coffee beans have a delicious caramel aroma, with subtle notes of tobacco and leather. In the cup, the coffee is smooth and bright with hints of chocolate and lime.

Extremely rare coffee of medium-dark roast

We process this special coffee respectfully and with sufficient time: by slowly roasting the beans medium-dark, the taste becomes stronger and fuller. The coffee beans turn a medium to deep brown and get a nice soft shine.

Always grown with respect for fauna and flora, now also certified organic

The use of chemical pesticides is totally forbidden on the Galapagos Islands. The coffee farmers in El Cafetal also attach great importance to the preservation of indigenous shade trees. These are indispensable for creating a bird-friendly habitat.

The product is now also certified organic according to European organic standards.

At Pit&Pit, health always comes first, also with coffee.

When processing many coffees, too high a degree of roasting results in the formation of large amounts of acrylamides, a substance which can be formed when starchy products are burned. Acrylamides are extremely unhealthy and harmful. Even the lover of strong coffee doesn't want this. We therefore categorically exclude the very strongest roasts with a high risk of acrylamides.

By allowing the fresh and very high-quality coffee beans to be roasted at a lower temperature and for somewhat longer, the delicious flavours and aromas come into their own. The slower, moderate roasting method ensures a healthy, high-quality coffee and allows our coffee roaster to perform tight acrylamide monitoring at each roast.
