  • What is naked oats or naked oats?

We all know oats in many forms: as grains, as flakes, flour or grits. It is healthy, naturally oats do not contain gluten and using oats for breakfast is a daily routine in almost all families.

All these oat products have this in common: they are from the oat species "avena sativa". But that is not the only variety of oats. For example, there is also troshaver, and wild oats, Avena sterilis.

And then there is the separate species "Avena nuda": literally the Latin botanical translation for naked oats. Those oat grains are "naked" because the chaff falls off the grain naturally, without threshing.

Nature itself husks them for us!
